Golden Harvest’s new center expanded space for sorting fresh produce
Golden Harvest Food Bank opened its new Produce Rescue Center in Augusta on August 15, 2024, with volunteers beginning work after the ribbon cutting. Severe Winds Damaged Four Industrial Buildings in Augusta
Severe thunderstorm winds damaged four large industrial buildings along Marvin Griffin Road in Augusta on March 20, 2018. Large sections of roofing were torn away, and part of a masonry wall collapsed. The damage extended from near Perkins Road toward Doug Barnard Parkway, north of Bush Field.
Surveyors estimated winds as high as 95 to 105 mph in the worst-hit areas. About 11 vehicles were heavily damaged by debris. At a site with cold storage, roof repairs would also need to protect the equipment and inventory inside. No injuries were reported in the occupied buildings.
