Refrigerated rentals in Como, North Carolina.
Como is a town in Hertford County, North Carolina, with about 100 residents. Como spans about 3.1 square miles with roughly 20 people per square mile. Lasker sits about 20 miles away and Roanoke Rapids about 36, which helps when a Como project reaches into the surrounding area.
Since 2020, Census estimates show the population shrinking by roughly 4.7%. The elevation is roughly 80 feet, which is worth knowing when you plan a placement area and drainage. In North Carolina, trade shows and furniture markets and coastal tourism and rentals are regular reasons to rent refrigerated trailers or containers, from the Triangle, the Piedmont, and the Outer Banks and coast. Como customers range from a local grocer, a school kitchen, or a community event to grocers and other operations that cannot let product warm up. In North Carolina, planning can also need to allow for hurricane-season outages and mountain winter storms, so we ask Como customers about power early. Coastal storm recovery and mountain winter weather both affect how soon a unit can be delivered and connected.

An Isaias Tornado Passed Northeast of Como
A weak EF0 tornado passed just northeast of Como on August 4, 2020, snapping limbs and bringing down several trees. It developed in the outer rainbands of Tropical Storm Isaias as the storm moved north just inland from the coast.
Isaias’s center traveled through the region from late August 3 into the following morning. Its outer bands produced three tornadoes across northeastern North Carolina. Around Como, the tree damage added a local access concern to the passing tropical storm: refrigerated trailers and other delivery vehicles need clear approaches before they can reach businesses with supplies. The tornado’s recorded track remained northeast of the town.

Chowan University’s student center renovation combines career services and a food court
Chowan University’s Life Skills Mall project reshaped the Hawks Nest Student Center in Murfreesboro, within the Hertford County area that includes Como. The university’s capital plan described a full renovation combining career support, leadership, technology and wellness spaces with a stage, food court and game room. By February 2024, the developing space was hosting business and student networking activities.
A food court brings cold storage and meal preparation into a building also used for advising, interviews and social time. The university continued fundraising for the project during its April 2024 giving campaign, showing that activity in the space and additional improvements overlapped. The renovation brought several student services together in an existing campus building rather than requiring separate destinations for each one.

Murfreesboro Watermelon Festival reaches its 40th celebration
The North Carolina Watermelon Festival marked its 40th year in Murfreesboro from July 30 through August 2, 2025. The celebration gave Como residents a summer event within Hertford County, with a festival market scheduled for the final two days on Broad Street. Music, amusement rides and food were part of the wider program.
The food court’s evening hours made meal preparation a continuing part of the celebration, with cold storage supporting perishable ingredients behind the stands. The July 31 schedule included a performance by Liquid Pleasure and a family ride night. Around the watermelon theme, the festival brought together a craft market and entertainment that invited visitors to spend time in Murfreesboro across several summer evenings.

Delivery, setup, site work, taxes, and the complete rental term are confirmed in your quote.

Can you also serve Lasker and other nearby places?
Yes. Places such as Lasker (about 20 miles), Roanoke Rapids (about 36 miles), and Hassell (about 44 miles) can be planned together with a Como rental, and the team can review one project that spans more than one address. Confirm each site's access, power, and dates in your quote.

Call 888 385-5513 any time. Emergency deployment is coordinated 24/7: share the Como address, the holding temperature, the quantity of product, and whether power is available, and the team will confirm the quickest workable option. North Carolina sites can face hurricane-season outages and mountain winter storms, so ask about generator connections before the product is at risk.
Do I need a permit to place a refrigerated trailer in Como?
Requirements depend on the exact site and the local jurisdiction, so check with Como's town or city office and Hertford County before dispatch. Unit dimensions, electrical needs, and placement details are shared with you to support that conversation, and any required approval stays your responsibility to confirm.
Should I choose a trailer or a container for my Como site?
Compare the stock you need to hold, the required temperature, the placement area, and door access. Trailers and containers are separate formats, and a mobile kitchen or dishwashing trailer can be reviewed alongside the refrigerated unit when the site also needs cooking or ware washing.
